Mother's Day Buffet Dinner - May 1st 2010
This year we returned to the Taste Restaurant at The Westin Resort & Spa for our Mother's Day celebration dinner. Our dress code for this occasion was 'Black & White' and a grand effort was made by all 65 ladies flouting their elegant outfits, the hotel had joined in the theme by laying the tables with black tablecloths, white swan serviettes and using white seat covers. Shida welcomed everyone to the meeting and praised all her hard working members for their efforts over the past year. We then went of to fill our plates with sumptuous morsels from the well endowed buffet. Door gifts and carnations were handed to each lady and later names were drawn to win a number of gifts donated by the club and one meal for 2 from the Westin, Miss Ooi was chosen by the Westin staff as being the best dressed for the evening and received a Langkawi Crystal vase. As the ladies left they were each presented with a RM50 voucher and a boxed bottle of Evian spring water from the management of The Westin, a big thank you to them and to the kitchen and waiting staff for making our evening so special. Social Events during 2009 -
Mother's Day Buffet Dinner - May 11th 2009. A total of 50 ladies, club members and guests, clad in their colourful costumes got together to partake of the Westin's spectacular buffet dinner which included a huge yummy chocolate Mother's Day cake. After a short welcome message from Shida we all prowled around the buffet islands to see just how many different dishes we could sample without letting out our waist lines. Indy and Elizabeth then had us completing quizzes and playing charades, always good for a giggle, before disbanding at 11pm.
For International Women's Day - March 8th, Kelab Puteri members joined with the newly formed Langkawi Lady-Birds Social Club and the Butterfly Club for a lunch party at L'Osteria, Pantai Tenga. From one o'clock we participated in painting the new logo of the Lady-Birds, trying to place a lipstick mouth in the correct position on a poster, and placing candles on cakes for all nationalities represented here today. After a few short speeches given by Victoria, Shida and Anne we all settled to partake of Lorenzo's fine dishes. There followed a raffle (proceeds of which are being kindly donated to Kelab Puteri and the Butterfly Club) including some spectacular gifts and mingling to chat with the other guests. A great time was had by all.
